What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small posts that are surgically placed within the mouth and into the jawbone just like the roots of your missing teeth. They’re crafted from titanium, which is a durable, biocompatible metal that resists erosion and naturally fuses with the jawbone. After this has occurred, our team can then restore the implants by securing a custom-crafted dental bridge, crown, or denture to them, rebuilding the entire structure of your missing teeth.

The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

  1. Consultation: During your consultation, you’ll have an opportunity to speak with our board-board certified oral surgeon, Dr. Coppelson. Our team will capture X-rays, examine your mouth, and help you determine whether you’re a good candidate for dental implants.
  2. Placement: Dr. Coppelson will complete your implant placement surgery here so you can keep all of your care conveniently in-house during this treatment, unlike at other dental practices.
  3. Healing: After your implants have been placed, you’ll undergo a healing process for between three to six months. This is also when your implants will fuse with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration.
  4. Restoration: Finally, once your permanent restorations have arrived, our team will secure them to your dental implants, and you’ll be able to enjoy your new and improved smile!

  • Reclaim up to 80% of your original bite strength.
  • Boosted confidence due to teeth that look and feel natural.
  • Ability to eat a greater variety of foods.
  • Stop jawbone erosion and changes in facial shape related to tooth loss.
  • Results last 30+ years with good maintenance and oral hygiene.
  • No alteration of your existing teeth required.

Bone Grafting

As a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Coppelson is also able to complete certain preparatory procedures in-house, like bone grafting. This is where our team will strengthen and improve the density of the jawbone by grafting new bone from a donor site to your mouth. The goal is to make the jawbone dense enough to be able to adequately support and integrate with the dental implants for a successful treatment.
